Farewell: LJ and Harlem Taylor Tena Koutou Parents, Caregivers and Whanau.
Hello everyone,
Kia ora e hoa mä.
Mā te tuakana ka tōtika te teina, mā te teina ka tōtika te tuakana
(From the older sibling the younger learns how to do it, from the younger sibling the older learns how to be tolerant/everyone has responsibilities, both the old and the young.)
Vests
All students must wear a hi-vis vest to and from school every day. Now that it is winter, it is especially hard for vehicles to see children on frosty and foggy mornings. If your child has lost or out grown their vest, please purchase a new one for them asap.
Gumboot Friday
Tomorrow (Friday 28 May) is Gumboot Friday. We would like to support the ‘I Am Hope’ Gumboot Friday Campaign by asking all staff and students to wear gumboots to school on Friday 28 May and bring a donation to support the campaign.
The I Am Hope Gumboot Friday campaign is raising funds for free counselling for any kid who needs help. Having depression is like walking through mud every day, so on Friday 28 May we ask you to show your support, put your gumboots on, give a gold coin, and take a walk in their shoes for just one day.
It's a fun way for kiwis to join in the mental health conversation, while raising money to provide FREE and timely counselling for any young person in need.
Pink Shirt Day
Pink Shirt Day was a huge success. The children and staff embraced ‘pink’ and all looked fabulous. We raised $249.10 for anti-bullying. Thank you so much for all your support.
Home and School AGM
On Wednesday 23 June the Home and School are having their AGM. This will be held at Miss Cocoa in Mandeville at 7.30pm. Dessert and drinks will be available to be purchased at your own expense. It would be great to see new parents (and the ‘old’) support the Home and School at the AGM.
Please comment on the post on the Riversdale Home and School Facebook page or text Wendy if you will be attending, so we can give numbers to Miss Cocoa.
Chocolates
We have sold through all our extra boxes of chocolates and are going to do an additional and final order next Monday. If you require additional (full boxes only), please let a committee member know before 3pm on Monday 31st and we will order one (or more!) for you.
A reminder money is due by Friday 11th June.
Community Assembly
On Thursday 1 July we will be having a Community Assembly in the School Hall at 1.30pm. Room 5 will be hosting this assembly and all classes will share what they have been learning this term. Everyone is welcome to come along and see what the children have been learning.
Please join our Facebook group for updates and information - Riversdale Home and School.
Teacher Only Day
Reminder: On Tuesday 8 June the school will be closed to students for a Teacher Only Day. This is the day after Queens Birthday Monday. This is because teachers and the Board of Trustees are having a professional development session with Tamsin Hanly on New Zealand History, as this will be a compulsory part of the New Zealand Curriculum as from 2022.
